In an alleged corruption case, an Anti-Corruption Court in Lahore denied temporary release to former Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi.
The public prosecutor contended at the start of the hearing that the medical certificate presented in court by Pervaiz Elahi’s counsel is a forgery.
The court denied the temporary bail request due to noncompliance, and it also denied the PTI leaders’ request for a day attendance waiver.
Mr Elahi was granted protective bail by the Lahore High Court in two cases, one filed by the Punjab Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) and the other related to terrorism.
On April 28, an anti-corruption squad and police contingents searched the home of former Punjab Chief Minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) President Pervaiz Elahi in Lahore.
ACE was said to have arrested 25 people, including a woman, during the raid. Pervaiz Elahi, on the other hand, was not apprehended during the operation.
The eight-hour-long police operation came to an end when the Director General of Punjab’s Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE), Sohail Zafar Chattha, and the police contingent left the area.
