The police on Wednesday morning raided the residence of former Punjab chief minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi in Gujrat.
Pervaiz Elahi’s home in Kunjah House in Gujrat was raided by a large police force. Elahi and his son Moonis Elahi were not in the home at the time of the police raid, according to Kunjah house workers.
Police are yet to either confirmed or denied the raid. Pervaiz Elahi confirmed the raid on Twitter and said that the police “searched” and “harassed” his employees.
In addition, he threatened to sue the caretaker government for performing an illegal search of his Gujrat home. Elahi’s son Moonis said on Twitter that a large police force illegally searched their Gujrat home at night.
“Last night, the police with 25 vehicles and 2 black Vigo raided our house in Gujrat without any search warrant. 25 police vehicles are understandable, but what were 2 black Vigos doing with them? Are they looking for Indian spies?” he wrote in a tweet.
The news comes a day after the driver and bodyguard of the former chief minister of Punjab were arrested in Islamabad for allegedly carrying alcohol bottles.
Before the magistrate, the accused confessed that they were carrying bottles for the personality.
