Pervez Khattak, a top official in the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) who recently quit as head of the party’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chapter, is considering joining Jahangir Tareen’s “Istehkam-e-Pakistan” party.
According to sources close to the situation, Khattak has been in communication with Jahangir Tareen and will be joining him and his associates in the coming days.
“Pervez Khattak will most likely become the general secretary of the Istehkam-e-Pakistan party,” according to sources.
It was already reported that Khattak will form his own political party, with PTI defectors anticipated to join.
Jahangir Tareen, a veteran politician, launched the “Istihkam-e-Pakistan” party yesterday. Former Sindh governor Imran Ismail, Amir Kiani, Sardar Tanveer Illyas, Mahmood Molvi, Firdous Ashiq Awan, Ali Zaidi, Fayyaz ul Hasan Chauhan, Fawad Chaudhary, and Nauman Langrhial were among those who attended the news conference.
“We all have one purpose, which is to work for the development of Pakistan,” Jahangir Tareen said during the announcement of the new political party “Istihkam-e-Pakistan.”
