Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif has reached Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s (KP) capital, Peshawar, following a suicide attack at a mosque in Police Lines during afternoon prayers on Monday.
According to details, interior minister Rana Sanaullah, the defence minister Khawaja Asif, and information minister Marriyum Aurangzeb were among the prime minister.
Information Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb announced on Twitter that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has called an urgent meeting to review the unfortunate incident and has asked officials from all relevant organizations to attend.
The prime will be informed on every detail of the blast, and the meeting will review the law and order situation and “motives” in the KP. She added, “A preliminary investigation report on the incident will be presented in the meeting”.
It is important to note that a suicide attack at a mosque in Peshawar’s Police Lines resulted in at least 32 fatalities and more than 150 injuries.
After the Peshawar mosque blast, the injured were transferred to nearby medical facilities for first aid, as seen in images and videos uploaded by social media users.
The mosque’s roof has collapsed in part. According to the earliest reports, the explosion’s nature remains unknown. An eyewitness described how he was on his way to the mosque when the blast happened and how there was panic prevailed.

PM Shehbaz Sharif, meanwhile, strongly criticized the Peshawar blast and underlined the country’s will and unity to eliminate terrorism from the country.
In a statement, the prime minister stated that it was against Islamic teaching to kill Muslims while they were performing acts of worship and that the mosque attack was evidence that the attackers were unrelated to Islam.
He said the terrorists wanted to create panic by targeting those safeguarding the country and reiterated his resolve to eliminate such elements waging war against Pakistan. “The killers of innocent people will be made an example. The whole nation including the institutions was united against terrorism,” he remarked.
He said the nation saluted the martyrs and that the government would formulate a strategy regarding the deteriorating law and order situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
