Peshawar Zalmi has unveiled plans to host open trials at the iconic Arbab Niaz Stadium in Peshawar, as they prepare for the 10th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL). The move marks the return of cricket to their home city as construction on the historic stadium continues.
In a statement shared on social media, the 2017 PSL champions expressed their enthusiasm about bringing the game back to Peshawar. “Today, officials from Peshawar Zalmi and the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Government visited Arbab Niaz Stadium to assess the ongoing construction ahead of the PSL Draft,” the franchise posted.
“We’re excited to bring cricket home once again and kick off our PSL 10 campaign with open trials starting on January 1 at the iconic Arbab Niaz Stadium,” the statement added.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs, Syed Fakhar Jahan, along with Peshawar Zalmi’s Director Mohammad Akram, visited the stadium to inspect the progress. Jahan confirmed that the stadium’s renovation will be completed by February 15, ensuring it will be ready to host PSL matches.
“We are optimistic about hosting PSL matches in Peshawar next year,” Jahan stated during the visit.
