Preparations for the opening of Peshawar’s largest park for public, Gulistan Hazar Khawani Park that has been built on a landfill site are underway.
Peshawar’s Largest Park is located at the junction of the motorway toll plaza, GT Road, and Ring Road, covers an area of 256 kanal, and was the city’s largest dumping site six months ago.
Once an eyesore, the park is now a landmark project of the provincial government that aims to create a ‘clean and green Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’. It is equipped with various facilities such as walking and jogging tracks, play areas, a zoo, rose gardens, and big lawns.
The Peshawar Development Authority has completed the project in a record six months’ time at a cost of Rs. 370 million under the special directives of Chief Minister Mahmood Khan.
Prime Minister Imran Khan will inaugurate the park in November.
