According to reports from rescue officials, a significant fire broke out at a shopping center in Peshawar’s Saddar at 4 a.m. on Monday. It was stated that approximately 26 vehicles, comprising water browsers, and 130 firefighters were deployed to the site to contain the fire.
The rescue team mentioned that extinguishing the fire would require some time. The Time Centre Plaza, a two-story structure, houses around 200 shops, including those selling mobile phones, UPS devices, and other electronic goods. The rescue team indicated that the fire had engulfed the entire building, resulting in substantial financial losses. Additionally, nearby residences were evacuated as a precautionary measure.
Fortunately, there have been no reports of any casualties. It was reported by rescue officials that teams from various districts, including Khyber, Nowshera, Mardan, and Charsadda, were summoned to the scene to assist. The operation is being overseen by Corps Commander Peshawar Lieutenant General Hasan Azhar Hayat, and the rescue team stated that the fire caused extensive damage to numerous shops.
The director general of Rescue 1122 mentioned that approximately 70% of the fire has been brought under control. He stated that the firefighters are working to fully contain the fire, and noted that the intensity of the blaze has decreased. He also explained that the fire continues to erupt due to the presence of batteries inside the plaza.
