On Monday the government decided not to inflate the prices of petrol and high-speed diesel [HSD] by adjusting taxes though inflated the rates of kerosene and light diesel oil.
The Ministry of Finance said that “Despite very limited fiscal space, the government decided to keep the prices of petrol and HSD will remain the same.” On the other hand, the prices of kerosene rose by Rs3.42 per liter and light diesel oil by Rs2.19 per liter.
This is the third fortnight that the government did not raise the prices of major petroleum products despite higher import costs after the revenue climbed for five conceptive fortnights.
