The Pakistan government is projected to generate an additional Rs17 billion in revenue by June 30 following a recent increase in the petroleum levy, according to official estimates.
This move is part of the government’s ongoing fiscal strategy aligned with commitments to the International Monetary Fund (IMF). The revised levy structure affects multiple fuel categories and is expected to add around Rs7 billion monthly to the national treasury.
Under the updated rates, the levy on petrol has been raised by Rs8.02, taking the total to Rs78.02 per litre. High-speed diesel now carries a levy of Rs77.01 per litre after an increase of Rs7.01.
For kerosene oil, the levy went up by Rs7.99 to Rs18.95 per litre, while light diesel oil saw a Rs7.62 hike, now set at Rs15.37 per litre.
Additionally, the levy on High-Octane Blending Component (HOBC) has also been increased by Rs8.02 per litre.
