According to a senior airline official, Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has launched direct flights between Pakistan and 16 Chinese cities via Beijing in collaboration with Air China.
According to a PIA official in Beijing, the 16 new cities are Guangzhou, Wuhan, Urumqi, Shenzhen, Xian, Shenyang, Shanghai, Ningbo, Nanjing, Harbin, Hangzhou, Hohhot, Dunhuang, Chengdu, Changchun, and Chongqing.
PIA Country Manager Bilal Afzal stated on the sidelines of the China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS) that the national flag carrier has put up a booth at the Pakistan Pavilion at CIFTIS to highlight its role in boosting people-to-people interactions between the two nations.
“Currently, PIA operates one weekly flight on the Islamabad-Beijing-Islamabad route every Sunday, but we are working on adding a new direct flight between the two countries,” he explained. “PIA offers a 20% student discount with free baggage allowances of 80 kg for economy and 100 kg for executive,” he added.
According to Ali Imran, a Pakistani educationist in Hangzhou, the connecting flights to various sites in China were a major relief and provided significant comfort to travelers traveling between the two fraternal countries.
