In a big relief for the poor, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday announced a Ramazan package providing free wheat flour to the inflation-hit people.
The programme is the first and is designed to help the poor.
The federal government would extend cooperation to the provinces to replicate the scheme, the prime minister said while sitting over a review meeting.
The prime minister issued the relevant authorities orders to finish a comprehensive plan as quickly as possible to provide flour to low-income people.
The prime minister was informed of the Ramadan package by the chief secretary for Punjab, Zahid Akhtar Zaman, and the finance secretary, Mujahid Sherdil.
The Secretary of Food and other high officials, including interim Chief Minister of Punjab Mohsin Raza Naqvi, attended the meeting.
