The government has planned to solarize all public buildings owned by federal ministries and divisions nationwide by April of next year, according to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
He claimed in a series of tweets that this ground-breaking move will lower the cost of importing energy and produce inexpensive, environmentally friendly electricity.
According to the prime minister, he stressed to the federal secretaries that proactive leadership is required to finish the solarization of public buildings.
He said this whole process will be marked by transparency, pre-qualification, and third-party audit.
Reliance on imported energy, which costs around 27 billion dollars yearly, is unsustainable, according to the prime minister.
He said the government’s focus on leveraging indigenous and renewable sources of electricity will make the country self-reliant in terms of energy security and provide massive relief to the common man.
