Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has underscored the importance of strengthening bilateral cooperation between Pakistan and Turkey across various spheres of mutual interest, encompassing trade, defense, connectivity, and culture.
During a courtesy meeting with Turkish Ambassador Dr. Mehmet Pacaci in Islamabad, Prime Minister Sharif highlighted the exemplary bilateral relations shared by both nations, rooted in a common history, religion, and culture. He emphasized the need for concerted efforts to reach the target of achieving a five billion dollar annual bilateral trade volume.
Addressing significant issues, Prime Minister Sharif expressed Pakistan’s profound gratitude for Turkey’s unwavering support for the oppressed people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir. Additionally, he reiterated Pakistan’s steadfast backing of Turkey regarding the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.
The Turkish Ambassador extended congratulations to Prime Minister Sharif on his re-election and conveyed best wishes from Turkey’s leadership, emphasizing the paramount importance of bolstering fraternal ties between the two countries.
Prime Minister Sharif expressed deep appreciation for the congratulatory phone call and message received from President Recep Tayyip Erdogan immediately following his re-election. Furthermore, he congratulated Turkey on the successful flight of the KAAN 5th generation fighter aircraft.
Reiterating an invitation to President Erdogan to visit Pakistan, Prime Minister Sharif emphasized the anticipation of the Pakistani people for this visit, which is expected to provide a valuable opportunity for extensive consultations during the 7th session of the High-Level Strategic Coordination Council.
