Prime Minister Imran Khan on Saturday paid tribute to an official of Chitral’s Forest Department, Jamshid Iqbal, who lost his life on August 19 while trying to put out a forest fire in the Chumurkun-Gole Protected Forest.
In a tweet on Saturday, the premier shared pictures of the fire fighting efforts in the Chitral division. The premier appreciated the services of the firefighters. He said: “These are our heroes protecting our forests for a green Pakistan.”
Earlier in the year, a large wildfire had engulfed the forests of Mushkpuri, Birote Khurd and nearby Dunga Gali areas of Ayubia and Galyat in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P), destroying a large number of trees.
