PM Imran has made his attempt to reduce the hazardous effect of smog in the city and population by Inaugurating the Miyawaki Urban Forest at Jilani Park, Lahore.

Moreover, the smog every year in Lahore was a precarious threat to Public Health and Quality of Life, prime minister stated during the initiative. Thus, the government would now seek to reverse the environmental neglect that Lahore had faced during its urban development.

PM Imran Khan, initiated the forest during his visit to the city on Friday where he inaugurated the Spring Plantation 2021 that would eventually target the plantation of 51 sites of Miyawaki urban forests in Lahore.

On the arrival of the PM, he was briefed on the development of 51 urban forest sites in the provincial capital, is built to overcome air pollution and protect the environment.

Moreover PM, Imran Khan Emphasized some facts by saying “The forest cover of Lahore has been reduced by 70 per cent in the last 12-13 years, due to which Lahore now faced the issue of smog particularly during the month of February. If this kind of consistent smog remains, it reduces the average lifespan by 6-11 years.”

He also termed the smog as “silent killer”, saying that the people ignored the existence of smog since the damage it causes can’t be seen immediately.

PM @ImranKhanPTI has shared a before/after comparison of an urban forest in Lahore which uses the Miyawaki technique, allowing trees to grow 10x faster and 30x denser. Over 50 new sites have been chosen for Miyawaki urban forests in Lahore to fight pollution.#Plant4Pakistan pic.twitter.com/NElDPE9lgF
