Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar embarked on a journey to China to participate in the ‘Third Belt and Road Forum (BRF) for International Cooperation,’ held in Beijing from October 17-18.
This visit is in response to an invitation from Chinese President Xi Jinping and is poised to strengthen bilateral relations. The Prime Minister’s Office issued a statement detailing the agenda, which includes attending the BRF’s opening ceremony and delivering an address at the high-level forum titled ‘Connectivity in an Open Global Economy’ on October 18.

During his stay in China, Prime Minister Kakar will engage in bilateral discussions with President Xi Jinping and other senior Chinese leaders, along with foreign dignitaries attending the forum. Additionally, he plans to meet with prominent Chinese entrepreneurs to foster increased trade and investment between the two nations.
The Prime Minister’s visit extends to Urumqi in the Xinjiang Autonomous Region of China, where he intends to interact with local leaders and business figures. The aim is to strengthen trade, investment, and people-to-people relationships.
This visit holds particular significance as it coincides with the ten-year celebrations of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), a flagship project of China’s Belt and Road Initiative. Prime Minister Kakar is expected to underscore the significant accomplishments of CPEC and the priorities for its future development, affirming Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to promoting its high-quality advancement in collaboration with China.
