Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar expressed Pakistan’s unwavering solidarity with the Palestinian people and its commitment to utilize multilateral platforms like the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to rally support for the protection and dignity of Palestinians.
In an interview with the social media platform “Talk Shock,” the prime minister reaffirmed Pakistan’s longstanding stance as a staunch friend of Palestine.
He emphasized Pakistan’s continued diplomatic, social, and political support for Palestinians on the global stage. The prime minister highlighted the importance of a two-state solution as a key to resolving the conflict between Palestine and Israel, emphasizing that such a resolution would contribute to stability in the Middle East.
Prime Minister Kakar reiterated Pakistan’s non-recognition of Israel, underscoring that despite agreements reached between Palestinians and Israel regarding a two-state mechanism, Israel consistently denied the rightful claims of Palestinians.
He cautioned that failure to address the Palestine issue could exacerbate radicalization and stressed the need to resolve both the political issues of Palestine and Kashmir. Regarding India, he expressed Pakistan’s desire for normal relations with all its neighbors but noted the importance of addressing the demands and aspirations of Kashmiris in the normalization process, characterizing it as a crucial element for bilateral ties to progress.
Caretaker Prime Minister Kakar also mentioned that the Chief of Army Staff supports civilian supremacy. Concerning the release of PTI Chairman Imran Khan before the elections, he clarified that the decision lies with the courts, not the government.
Regarding the ICC Cricket World Cup taking place in India, the prime minister expressed the hope that Pakistan’s cricket team would bring honor to the country. He noted that there were no concrete proposals for a visit to India for the tournament and urged India to issue visas to Pakistani fans and journalists. He emphasized the importance of keeping sports separate from politics, stating that Pakistan would have reciprocated with visa issuance if the World Cup had been hosted in Pakistan.
