Prime Minister of Pakistan, Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, has launched the BOP Freelancer Segment and Credit Card at a ceremony for cheque distribution among the beneficiaries of the Prime Minister’s Youth Business and Agriculture Loan Scheme.
The events for the “Week of Youth” included the occasion. Senior BOP officials including Mr. Zafar Masud, the company’s president, and CEO, were also present.
Through this plan, The Bank of Punjab (BOP), one of Pakistan’s top financial institutions, seeks to increase the community of independent contractors’ access to capital by meeting their transactional, lending, and payment-related needs. This programme will also increase the country’s capacity to draw international investment.
In his statements during the occasion, Mr. Zafar Masud (President and CEO-BOP) stated that Pakistan has almost 3 million independent contractors. While their potential is worth billions of dollars, freelancers only contributed $400 million of the $2.616 billion in information and communication technology export remittances that the nation generated during FY 2022.
Pakistan has over 3 million independent contractors, according to Mr. Zafar Masud (President and CEO-BOP), who spoke at the event. Although freelancers have potential worth billions of dollars, they only contributed $400 million to the $2.616 billion in ICT export remittances that the country made in FY 2022.
Moreover, freelancers can get co-branded BOP PSEB debit and credit cards. These cards contain features made specifically for this market, like higher transaction limits, and provide access to interesting tech-related discounts at our alliance partners. We appreciate the persistent work of our partners Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB) and MasterCard for achieving this goal.
