Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif nominated Najam Sethi as a candidate for Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Wednesday.
Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif met with Najam Sethi, Chairman of the PCB’s Management Committee, and expressed his entire trust in him as PCB chairman.
According to sources, the Prime Minister will shortly be provided two names to the PCB’s Governors’ board, and the PM has asked Najam Sethi to conclude the elections for the PCB Chairman as soon as possible.
Najam Sethi briefed Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on the Asia Cup 2023 and the resurrection of the PCB’s 2014 constitution, as well as providing an update on the World Cup in India, during the meeting.
According to sources, more than 90 percent of PCB districts have been elected, and elections for 80 percent of regions have been completed, with the Regional Inter-District Under-19 Cricket Tournament set to begin on June 15.
Najam Sethi indicated during the briefing that a one-year cricket calendar has been finalized and would be announced soon. Meanwhile, departmental cricket has been resurrected, and all departments have begun to establish their own teams.
