Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday directed authorities concerned to set up passport counters at the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) centres to facilitate the applicants.
The prime minister claimed while sitting over a meeting on hassle-free access to passports and computerized national identity cards (CNICs), that the move would not only benefit the general population but would also reduce the burden on the national exchequer.
To enable the collaboration to happen, he has requested NADRA and the Directorate General of Immigration and Passports to collaborate on resources.
Shehbaz Sharif gave the order to establish counters at the NADRA centres for all previously approved new passport offices.
Additionally, he provided orders to boost the number of NADRA mobile vans that deliver services to CNIC applicants at their doorstep.
The meeting was informed that NADRA will soon be releasing a new consumer-focused mobile phone application for CNIC renewal.
The meeting was attended by the Director General of Immigration and Passports, the Chairman of NADRA, the Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah, the Education Minister Rana Tanvir Hussain, and other top officials.
