Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif on Sunday called upon the civilized world to strongly condemn the highly offensive acts of desecration of the Holy Quran and fight Islamophobia.
Taking to Twitter, the prime minister wrote: “The highly offensive desecration of the Holy Quran by a Danish politician is the third such incident in a row that should be strongly condemned by the civilized world.”
He said that there has never been a more urgent need for international cooperation in the fight against Islamophobia. The prime minister wrote on social media, “We are deeply hurt,”
Pakistan condemns desecration of Holy Quran in Sweden
The desecration of the Holy Quran in Denmark by the same Islamophobe who had just perpetrated a similar atrocity in Sweden the day before was vehemently condemned by Pakistan.
Foreign Office Spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch said in a statement that Muslims around the world have little doubt that freedom of expression is being flagrantly misused to preach religious hatred and instigate violence because of the repeated commission of the heinous deed.
“This repetition of the vile act leaves little doubt in the minds of Muslims around the world that freedom of expression is being blatantly abused to spread religious hatred and incitement to violence,” the Foreign Office Spokesperson said in a press release.
