Pakistan’s Prime Minister, Shehbaz Sharif, has expressed grief and sorrow over the deaths of three Pakistanis in a residential building fire in Dubai.
PM Shehbaz Sharif expressed deep condolences to the deceased families in a tweet on Monday.
He instructed Pakistan’s Mission in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to assist impacted families.
Dubai apartment block fire kills 16: reports
A fire in a residential building in Dubai killed 16 persons, three of them were Pakistani nationals.
The fire started around midday Saturday on the fourth story of the building in the Al-Ras area of the city’s old quarter.
According to preliminary investigations, the incident was caused by “a lack of compliance with building safety and security requirements,” according to a statement reported by UAE media.
Dubai, one of the seven emirates of the United Arab Emirates, has a population of around 3.3 million, of whom almost 90 percent are foreigners.
