Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has expressed his contentment with the country’s record wheat production of 20.75 million metric tons.
While presiding over an official meeting in Lahore regarding wheat procurement, he acknowledged that despite last year’s rains and floods, the abundant wheat harvest serves as evidence of the government’s timely decisions and effective governance.
The Prime Minister instructed the relevant provincial and federal departments to directly purchase wheat from farmers, ensuring that they receive maximum benefits.
Additionally, he emphasized the importance of prompt wheat procurement and strict measures against hoarders. To ensure a continuous supply of wheat throughout the year, the Prime Minister urged the relevant institutions to raise their wheat procurement targets.
He further proposed that the necessary resources for obtaining the required quantity of wheat should be facilitated through banks.
Shehbaz Sharif affirmed that the government is formulating a strategy for the upcoming year to further enhance wheat production in the country.
