Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday chaired a high-level review meeting on a five-year roadmap for economic progress of the country.

The outlined roadmap prioritized curbing inflation, mitigating poverty, and fostering employment opportunities. Emphasizing inclusive consultation, the prime minister urged engagement with stakeholders from various economic sectors to refine the plan.

He stressed swift execution of projects to boost economic stability and growth without delay. The prime minister advocated for a detailed timeline for project implementation, underscoring the urgency to accelerate progress in agriculture, livestock, information technology, foreign investment, and small and medium-sized enterprises. He pledged to streamline government spending and prevent further misuse of public funds, vowing to prioritize the welfare of the impoverished.

With a vision for economic stabilization over the next five years, the prime minister affirmed the nation’s trajectory toward prosperity. Highlighting the role of digitalization and technology in revenue augmentation and agricultural productivity enhancement, he pledged to expedite the privatization of underperforming state-owned enterprises.

The meeting comprehensively reviewed the economic roadmap, discussing proposed initiatives across key sectors including energy, agriculture, livestock, exports, small and medium enterprises, taxation, information technology, investment, and privatization. Federal ministers Ahsan Iqbal, Muhammad Jehanzeb, Ahad Khan Cheema, Dr. Musadiq Malik, Minister of State Shiza Fatima Khawaja, Jehanzeb Khan, and senior officials were in attendance.
