The choice of whether to raise or lower the price of petrol irks Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif the most and causes him to have restless nights, he remarked on Saturday.
Speaking at the Mufti Mehmood Conference, which was held in memory of late Jamiat-e-Ulema-e-Islam leader Mufti Mehmood, the Prime Minister claimed that raising the price of gas or petroleum products causes him to have restless nights.
PM Shehbaz Sharif said, “I have sleepless nights worrying about this decision, (especially) when we have to hike the price of petroleum items.
He insisted that whenever he must make choices that have an impact on the economy and disproportionately affect the poor, he turns to JUI-F leader Fazlur Rehman for prayers.
Shehbaz Sharif lavishly praised Mufti Mehmood and claimed that he not only served Islam but also greatly elevated national politics.
While praising Mufti Mehmood, PM Shehbaz also harshly criticized his main rival, former PM Imran Khan, claiming that he fostered the politics of intolerance and pride in contrast to Mufti Mehmood’s politics of “conversation and mutual respect.”
While speaking at PTI rallies, Shehbaz Sharif also claimed that Imran Khan, when he served as prime minister, ruthlessly blamed the present government for the nation’s issues.
Shehbaz Sharif stated, “A man (Imran Khan) not only damaged our economy but also prayed for the country to default when out of power.
PM Shehbaz insisted that his economic team continued to work tirelessly to help Pakistan emerge from its current economic crisis and that they are still doing everything in their power to put Pakistan back on the path of prosperity and provide relief to the populace by lowering the inflation rate.
