According to a report released by the Free and Fair Election Network (FAFEN), major political parties such as the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) experienced an uptick in their vote share during the 2024 general elections.
The elections, held on February 8, marked the country’s 10th general elections in over five years, with approximately 60 million citizens exercising their voting rights to choose their representatives across 265 National Assembly and 590 provincial assembly constituencies.
FAFEN’s report revealed that while the Imran Khan-founded Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) maintained its vote bank, both PML-N and PPP witnessed an increase in their vote count. The analysis, based on results from 235 NA constituencies, indicated that PTI-backed candidates secured 16.85 million votes, slightly lower than the party’s tally of 16.9 million votes in 2018. In contrast, PML-N’s vote share rose from 12.9 million in 2018 to 13.3 million in 2024, while PPP’s share increased from 6.9 million to 7.6 million during the same period.
Additionally, Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) saw a slight rise in its share of votes, from 2.1 million in 2018 to 2.6 million in 2024.
