ISLAMABAD – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) activist Sanam Javed has been re-arrested in connection with the May 9 violence, shortly after being released from custody in another case.
The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Khawaja Saad Rafique has called for her release, highlighting the situation on social media. Rafique expressed concern for Javed’s children, urging authorities to show mercy and allow her to return home.
Earlier, a local court in Islamabad had discharged Javed from a case involving the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) after her physical remand was denied. However, upon her release, she was immediately re-arrested by Islamabad police.
Sanam Javed faces multiple charges filed against her across the country following the May 9 riots, during which civilian and military installations were attacked. The PTI has criticized her repeated detentions, alleging they are driven by malicious intent.
