As the final parliamentary year of the current National Assembly begins, President Arif Alvi is speaking to a joint session of the Parliament.
In accordance with Article 56’s third clause, the president is required to address the parliament following each general election and the opening session of the parliamentary year to explain the “causes of its summons.”
If the NA is not dissolved earlier, this will be the parliamentary year with the fewest days because it will only last 310 days.
On August 14, President Alvi was scheduled to address the joint session. However, the event was postponed because of reservations from the coalition government.
