The price of milk in the city has increased by Rs20 per liter thanks to the Karachi Dairy and Cattle Farmers Association.
The cost of 1 kilogram of milk in Karachi’s retail market has increased by Rs20 in the most recent price rise. The local government and the provincial authorities have said nothing about the current event.
According to the Dairy and Cattle Farmers Association, rising costs for dairy farm products and the fares of the vehicles used to deliver milk forced them to raise the price of milk.
Shakur Umar Gujjar, president of the Dairy and Cattle Farmers Association, suggested in March that milk prices in Karachi could rise to Rs 200 per liter.
Shakir Umar Gujjar said prices of electricity, medicines, gas, livestock, fodder and other essential items are increasing day by day and it is hard to sell milk at the present rate.
Gujjar said the price of milk will touch Rs200 per liter this year and will cross this rate in 2023. The price of milk can be reduced if PM Imran Khan slaps the ban on the import of essential items, Gujjar added.
