Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar Khan’s family was reportedly attacked in Islamabad while he was present at the Supreme Court.
The incident occurred during the hearing of the Election Commission of Pakistan’s plea challenging the Peshawar High Court’s verdict in favor of PTI in a case related to the party’s symbol and intra-party polls.
Gohar Khan abruptly left the Supreme Court premises after learning about the attack on his family. According to Khan, his sons and nephews were beaten, and his home was invaded by individuals who took a computer.
Chief Justice Isa expressed dissatisfaction with the situation, summoning the additional attorney general to address the matter. The PTI chairman later returned to the court, stating the seriousness of the situation. The chief justice instructed the additional attorney general to resolve the issue, emphasizing that the court is not the police.
In response, Barrister Gohar expressed a lack of trust and a desire to inform the court about the incident. The additional attorney general assured that the home secretary and the Inspector General of Islamabad Police were investigating the matter.
Meanwhile, Islamabad police claimed they conducted a routine operation at Barrister Gohar’s house based on a tip-off about wanted criminals. The police stated that no violence occurred, and no documents were taken. Further investigations into the incident are ongoing.
