A district and sessions court in Mardan granted bail to former National Assembly speaker and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Asad Qaiser in the May 9 case on Saturday.
Judge Mohammad Zaib of Mardan District and Sessions Courts approved Asad Qaiser’s bail, requiring surety bonds worth Rs100,000.
Asad Qaiser, a prominent PTI leader, had been re-arrested by Charsadda police on November 24 in connection with a vandalism case. He was subsequently transported to Charsadda under tight security measures.
In a previous development, an anti-corruption court in Abbottabad had also granted bail to Asad Qaiser in a corruption case. The allegations against him pertained to corruption in the procurement of equipment for Gajju Khan Medical College. The arrest took place on November 3 in Bani Gala, Islamabad.
The Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) had booked Asad Qaiser over suspected corruption related to the purchase of medical equipment for Swabi’s Gajju Khan Medical College.
