Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) politician and former National Assembly (NA) Speaker Asad Qaiser was rearrested from Charsadda in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), After being released on bail in a corruption case earlier in the day.
Previously, an Abbottabad anti-corruption court granted bail to the PTI leader.
On November 3, Asad Qaiser, who is accused of corruption in the procurement of equipment for Gajju Khan Medical College, was apprehended in Bani Gala, Islamabad.
The Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) has filed a case against Asad Qaiser, alleging his involvement in financial irregularities during the purchase of medical equipment for Swabi’s Gajju Khan Medical College.
According to the FIR, Asad Qaiser, along with four health department employees, is accused of causing significant financial losses to the treasury through corruption in the procurement of equipment for GKMC during the previous PTI government’s tenure.
As a former National Assembly speaker, Qaiser served two terms in both the National Assembly and provincial assembly constituencies. Following the 2013 general elections, he became the speaker of the provincial assembly. His victory in the 2018 polls led to his appointment as the NA speaker.
