Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) senior vice president Fawad Chaudhry has asserted that his party was ready to stage nationwide protests against the police operation at Lahore’s Zaman Park, the residence of former prime minister Imran Khan.
The former information minister stated during a press conference in Lahore that party members and supporters were waiting for Imran Khan’s order to hold protests across the country against the operation carried out at Zaman Park.
When “we failed to reach the location,” Fawad Chaudhry remarked that all of the roads leading to the PTI Chairman’s mansion remained blocked off. He also blasted the government over ‘increasing prices of edible items and petroleum products’, terming the system ‘fascist’.
The PTI leader stated that the government “is not concerned about the country, and its only agenda is to arrest Imran Khan,” adding that the reason the current authorities want to arrest him is that his party chairman represents Pakistan.
Fawad Chaudhry reportedly made reference to PML-N senior vice president Maryam Nawaz when he stated that the government was being run by a woman who had never run for council member. He stated that the woman had taken over the entire Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) and Pakistan People’s Party and that “she said it is vital to arrest Imran Khan” (PPP).
He made note of Bushra Bibi, Imran Khan’s wife, and the Khan family’s attendance during the operation in Zaman Park. He said, “The manner cops beat people and smashed the gates is on record.
The PTI leader said that a terms of reference (TOR) had already been signed between the Punjab police and PTI in this regard, and continued by alleging that the Punjab police had disobeyed court orders. He blasted, “IG Punjab staged a press conference as the spokesperson for the Punjab government.
He said that Maryam Nawaz had set the agenda for the police to conduct an operation in Zaman Park.
