PTI’s chief spokesperson, Rauf Hassan, has been injured in an attack in Sitara Market, Islamabad.
The attacker used a sharp object, causing injuries to Hassan’s face, and fled the scene easily afterward.
The incident sparked immediate reactions within political circles, prompting PTI members to walk out of a Senate meeting upon learning of the news. Senator Shibli Faraz reacted to the attack, demanding prompt updates on Hassan’s condition, stating, “Our spokesperson has been attacked, we need to know the situation.”
Law Minister Azam Nazir Tarar addressed the Senate, confirming the incident and promising to provide further details soon.
“The incident has just been reported. I will update the House once I have more information,” he stated.
Tarar also mentioned that the Home Minister was absent from the House but assured opposition members that he would consult with the Home Minister or the Inspector General (IG) and provide updates accordingly.
Presiding officer Sherry Rehman requested a comprehensive report on the assault, emphasizing the gravity and urgency of the matter.
Tarar assured the Senate that Rauf Hassan would receive all legal rights as per the law.
