Former National Assembly (NA) speaker and Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) leader Asad Qaiser was apprehended in the capital during a raid conducted jointly by the Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the Islamabad police on Friday.
According to police sources, the ACE had requested assistance from the capital police in apprehending the PTI leader in connection with a corruption case related to the procurement of medical equipment for an educational institution in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
In response, a combined team comprising ACE and capital police officials conducted a raid on Asad Qaiser’s residence and took him into custody.
Subsequently, he was transferred to an undisclosed location to undergo further legal procedures. It was reported that he is likely to be presented in a lower court on Saturday to request transit remand for his transfer to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
