A revised list of candidates for the women’s reserved seats of the Senate in Punjab has been issued.
The Election Commission has added PTI candidate Sanam Javed’s name to the revised list for the women’s seats.
Sanam Javed had appealed to the Appellate Tribunal after her nomination papers were initially rejected by the Election Commission of Pakistan.
The Lahore High Court’s Appellate Tribunal accepted Sanam Javed’s appeal on Friday, allowing her to participate in the Senate elections.
The tribunal, led by LHC Justice Shahid Bilal Hasan, instructed the ECP to include Sanam Javed’s name in the list of candidates contesting the Senate elections.
With this update, the revised list now comprises four candidates vying for two reserved seats of the Senate for women from Punjab. The list includes Anosha Rehman and Bushra Anjum Butt from PML-N, Faiza Malik from the People’s Party, and PTI’s Sanam Javed.
