Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz announced the initiative of establishing Pakistan’s inaugural IT city in Lahore during the third cabinet meeting on Tuesday. The meeting, attended by provincial ministers, chief secretary, and IGP, witnessed significant decisions being made.
Among the approvals granted during the meeting were the annual and supplementary budget grants for the fiscal year 2023-24. Additionally, the Chief Minister directed the handover of Lahore Knowledge Park to the Punjab Central Business District Authority.
During her address, she assured that the IT city would be operational within a year, inviting major universities from around the globe to establish their campuses within its premises.
Furthermore, the Chief Minister greenlit a project aiming to provide 20,000 electric bikes to students on easy installment plans, with the distribution scheduled to commence in May of the current year.
Highlighting the necessity of enhancing medical facilities in remote areas, she advocated for the launch of an air ambulance project on a trial basis, aimed at providing urgent medical assistance to residents of such regions.
