Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has unveiled an ambitious plan to distribute 50,000 solar systems across the province through the “Chief Minister Roshan Gharana” program.
During a review meeting on Solar home solutions, CM Nawaz emphasized the immediate implementation of steps to install one kilowatt solar systems. She also stressed the importance of incorporating the latest solar technology into the systems.
With a budget allocation of Rs 12.6 billion, the first phase of the program aims to provide solar systems to 50,000 protected consumers who use up to 100 units monthly. The distribution will be conducted through a balloting process.
Subsequently, the program will expand to provide home-based solar systems to other consumers in Punjab. Each solar system will comprise advanced solar panels, inverters, batteries, and other necessary accessories.
Key officials including Provincial Information Minister Azma Zahid Bukhari, Former Senator Pervaiz Rashid, MPA Sania Ashiq, Chief Secretary, Chairman of Planning and Development, Secretaries of Energy and Finance, Chief Executive Officer of Punjab Power Development Company (PPDCL), Managing Director of Punjab Power Development Board (PPDB), and other relevant officers participated in the meeting.
