On 1 July, The Government of Punjab will launch the Punjab Resilient and Inclusive Agriculture Transformation (PRIAT) project.
According to official records, the World Bank will pay $300 million of the total cost of $402 million, the provincial government will give $18 million, and the farmers will provide the remaining $85 million.
On June 30, 2027, the project will be completed, after a five-year implementation phase.
Across Punjab, the PRIAT initiative will take place. The main focus of the project is:
• On-Farm Water Conveyance Efficiency Improvement
• Climate-smart production and market access for everyone are promoted.
• Supervision of project implementation, monitoring and evaluation, communication, capacity building, research, and so on.
At the grassroots level for the transfer of long-term technologies, this project will establish an enabling environment for the most effective and efficient use of available water resources, as well as support for the processing of agricultural output to improve returns.
