ISLAMABAD – A female leopard, named Malka, rescued from Azad Kashmir in critical condition, has succumbed to her injuries.
According to the Wildlife Management Board, Malka had been shot with four bullets. While one was successfully removed, the remaining three—including one near her heart and another close to her spine—ultimately led to her death.
The Wildlife Department of Azad Kashmir has launched legal action against those responsible for the shooting. Malka’s body has been transferred to the Pakistan Museum of Natural History.
The Islamabad Wildlife Management Board has notified the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Wildlife Department of the leopard’s passing.
