Cristiano Ronaldo scored his 900th career goal in Portugal’s Nations League game against Croatia on Thursday, becoming the only man in history to do it in an official match.
In the 34th minute at the Estadio da Luz, Ronaldo doubled his team’s lead to 2-0 with a close-range tap-in volley from a Nuno Mendes cross. After scoring, he fell to the ground, visibly emotional, as he celebrated yet another career milestone.
The 39-year-old has already scored 131 goals for his country, 450 goals for Real Madrid, 145 goals for Manchester United, 101 goals for Juventus, 68 goals for Al Nassr, his current team, and five goals for Sporting Lisbon, his former team.
Argentina’s Lionel Messi, second on the all-time scoring list, scored 859 career goals.
