PTI member informed the Prime Minister that Roshan Digital Accounts (RDA) have received remittances over $3 billion so far.
Prime Minister Imran Khan was chairing a meeting of Roshan Digital Accounts (RDA) in Islamabad on Friday.
PM Imran Khan said in the meeting:
“The government’s measures will have far reaching impact for their welfare and facilitation. These include granting voting rights to overseas Pakistanis and online issuance of certificates of power of attorney and inheritance.”
Prime Minister Imran Khan also instructed the concerned authorities to launch an effective marketing campaign to convince overseas Pakistanis to use Roshan Digital Account (RDA).
Prime Minister Imran Khan says overseas Pakistanis are our precious asset and government is taking unprecedented steps to facilitate them.
Imran Khan directed the State Bank of Pakistan to provide online facilitation on real time basis to overseas Pakistanis. So, they can send their money to Pakistan with ease.
Previously, The SBP allowed overseas Pakistanis to directly invest into the shares of companies in Pakistan and units of funds through the rupee-based RDA.
SBP have allowed overseas Pakistanis to invest in Pakistani companies. They can also invest in funds operated by a private fund management company. But the selected company must have license by the Securities Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP).
The State Bank of Pakistan also said that:
“It has trying hard to involve maximum number of overseas Pakistanis into the domestic economy. The SBP has also taken new step to provide further investment and financing opportunities to non-resident Pakistanis (NRPs).”
Moreover, The State Bank of Pakistan said:
“To facilitate investment in real estate in Pakistan, we have allowed financing facility to RDA holders through their Pakistani rupee account using digital channels. In addition, we have allowed inflow of funds into rupee denominated RDA through Money Transfer Operators (MTOs).”
