ISLAMABAD: On the occasion of Eidul-Fitr, Federal Railways Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique announced a 30% reduction in railway rates.
The statement was made during a news conference held today at Railway Headquarters in Lahore by the minister.
“Railways would decrease rates by 30% during Eid days, and employees of Pakistan Railways will now receive their salaries on time,” he added, adding that Pak Railways pensioners will also be paid on time.
“The ML-1 project was meant to be completed in six years, but it took nine years due to the past PTI government’s incompetence,” Rafique remarked. He stated that the project would be reworked by the incoming coalition government because the PTI failed to start construction on ML-1.
Rafique promised to get Pakistan Railway back on track as quickly as possible.
On April 19, Khawaja Saad Rafique, who previously served as Minister of Railways, was inducted into Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s cabinet and assigned responsibility for railways and aviation.
After taking office, Railways Minister Saad Rafique stated on Wednesday that the Thal Express between Multan and Rawalpindi will be restored after a two-year hiatus.
“With effect from 21-04-2023, it has been decided to resume the Thal Express (129-Up/130-Dn) traveling between Multan – Rawalpindi – Multan through Attock,” the minister tweeted.
