Samsung is gearing up to unveil a groundbreaking rollable phone in 2025, featuring a 12.4-inch screen—larger than current foldable phones and Huawei’s Mate XT. This innovative device could potentially be the first rollable phone on the market.
Recent reports indicate that Samsung may release the rollable phone in the latter half of next year, making it a trailblazer in this new form factor. The phone is expected to include an under-display selfie camera, setting it apart from existing devices.
This development comes as LG, TECNO, and OPPO have previously showcased rollable phone concepts. OPPO presented its rollable phone in 2021, while TECNO followed suit last year. LG, which was ready to release a rollable phone, exited the smartphone industry in 2021.
In addition to this innovation, Samsung is implementing cost-cutting measures, including halting the production of dummy phones for retailers. These steps are part of the company’s broader strategy to enhance profitability. Despite its historical conservatism in smartphone upgrades, Samsung aims to overcome challenges in design, battery capacity, and camera technology that have affected its position in the foldable segment.
