Samsung Electronics, the world’s leading smartphone maker, is set to introduce a real-time translation service using AI technology in calls next year, according to a company representative.
This feature will be integrated into Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy flagship model, scheduled for an early launch in the coming year.
The service will facilitate real-time translation in both audio and text while users are on a call, and it is designed to work even if the other party is using a non-Samsung smartphone. The exact number of supported languages has not yet been disclosed.
Samsung emphasized that engaging in conversations with foreigners using this AI feature will be as straightforward as enabling closed captions on streaming shows. The on-device AI technology ensures that private conversations remain secure on the phones. Samsung’s move aligns with its ongoing efforts in developing the generative AI model, Samsung Gauss, which spans language, code, and image fields.
The company plans to integrate this AI system into a range of its products shortly, although specific details about timing and models remain undisclosed.
