The Jeddah Economic Company (JEC) in Saudi Arabia has announced that construction on its ambitious project, the Jeddah Tower, the world’s highest tower, has resumed.
This tower is expected to reach a height of more than 1,000 metres (1 km) when completed, making it the highest structure in the world and a new record holder in the history of architectural marvels.
According to MEED, the JEC has launched the bidding process for the historic structure.
The bids should be finalised by the end of the year. The CEO of Kingdom Holding Company, Mr. Talal Ibrahim Almaiman, has verified that this essential step has been officially accepted.
Industry giants such as Almabani, Bawani, China Harbour, Samsung C+T, and others have been invited to submit bids.
Given the importance of this project, collaborative ventures integrating both local and international skills are expected.
Contractors have been given three months to develop their bids to help in this effort. Furthermore, in anticipation of the approaching building issues, many have conducted site visits to ensure complete knowledge.
The Jeddah Tower is more than a lofty structure. This architectural marvel will tower over the world-famous Burj Khalifa in Dubai by 172 meters.
It is planned to be the centrepiece of the Jeddah Economic City development, which will span 1.5 square kilometers.
The Jeddah Tower’s features claim to be the pinnacle of luxury and magnificence. The Kingdom City development will be housed at the tower’s center.
The tower’s living spaces are thoughtfully designed to fit a range of demands, with options ranging from 2-bedroom suites to opulent 6-bedroom flats. Residents and visitors can expect premium shopping malls, gorgeous boutiques, gourmet dining establishments, and recreational facilities like tennis courts.
The observation deck, which is supposed to be the highest ever erected, will be one of the building’s most distinguishing features. There will also be a magnificent Four Seasons hotel, premium office spaces, and sumptuous condos.
Construction on the Jeddah Tower began in 2013, but has been repeatedly delayed and postponed due to financial difficulties, architectural modifications, and other considerations. There is no stated completion date for the tower as of yet.
