On Monday, the Supreme Court ordered the inspector general of the Punjab Police to provide a first information report regarding the attempted murder of PTI Chairman Imran Khan.
When giving the orders, Pakistan’s Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial said, “Register an FIR within 24 hours or else we will take suo motu notice.”
However, the provincial administration was not allowing the IG of Punjab, Faisal Shahkar, to file the FIR, he told the court.
“Under the criminal justice system, police can register the FIR itself. It’s been more than 90 hours but an FIR has not been registered,” observed the CJP.
