On Thursday, the Supreme Court (SC) Registrar’s Office filed objections to the plea seeking President Arif Alvi’s disqualification.
Imtiaz, a civilian, petitioned for President Arif Alvi’s disqualification.
In its objection, the Supreme Court stated that the president cannot be designated a respondent under Article 248. The points stated under Article 184(3) are not satisfactory,’ according to the SC Registrar’s Office, which noted that the plaintiff did not contact any other forum and did not explain why.
The application also lacks elements concerning public interest and fundamental rights.
It should be remembered that on March 16, the Supreme Court of Pakistan denied a petition seeking President Alvi’s disqualification.
A two-member court led by Justice Ijaz-ul-Ahsan heard a plea brought under Article 62 1(F) of the Constitution by a citizen, Zahoor Mehndi.
The petitioner raised six objections to his candidature, one of which was that he (Alvi) was an under-trial accused at the time of the presidential election and so ineligible for the presidency.
