On Monday, the Supreme Court (SC) requested information about mining in the Margalla hills.
The Supreme Court was hearing a dispute involving the occupation of forest lands throughout the country. The SC bench expressed worry about mining in the Margalla hills at the start of the session.
Trees may be seen on the Islamabad side of the Margalla hills, while mining can be visible on the other side, according to CJP Justice Umar Ata Bandial.
Mining is taking place at the KP’s die, according to the government’s counsel, Raja Shafqat.
“Forest lands are being occupied; what steps is the government taking to plant trees?” the top judge inquired.
The lawyers of the federal and provincial governments replied to the CJP that all leases of forest lands have been canceled.
