The United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) in Paris designated two attractive tourism destinations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as Biosphere Reserves.
The Gallies Biosphere Reserve and the Chitral Bashkar Garmchashma Biosphere Reserve are two of the KP’s declared Biosphere Reserves.
Both of these locations, particularly the forests, are designated as international protected areas.
Garam Chashma in Chitral is one of the selected locations, while Bagnoter to Barian in the Abbottabad district is another. These Biosphere Reserves are managed and administered by UNESCO’s Man and Biosphere (MAB) initiative.
This programme focuses on meeting the needs of the local residents while simultaneously preserving the environment. The Wildlife Department of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has met the stringent UNESCO requirements for establishing this protected area.
This acknowledgment not only draws attention to Galiyat’s attractive areas but also emphasizes the importance of their conservation and the well-being of their residents.
“The efforts and recognition made by Chief Conservator of Wildlife Department Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for achieving international recognition are lauded and undoubtedly is a remarkable accomplishment,” the magazine continued.
